Well, the first foaling season of 2014 is done! We had 4 out of 5 breedings go successfully, and resulted in 4 healthy foals. We were surprised when we found that Marilyn M was first pregnant with twins, but Cheyenne made the decision to have one pinched off to ensure the safety of both the mare and the other foal. This decision proved to be a good one and no other problems occurred with the pregnancy. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Ahoy Investor. She had a good pregnancy and the foal seemed to be developing perfectly, but when it came to the delivery, the foal was still born. It was a gut wrenching experience but one that reminded us that not every delivery goes perfectly. It is unclear what exactly happened but Ahoy Investor has recovered well and has not shown any long term signs of trauma. She will be allowed to fully recover before being covered again.
The other foals, as I said, all turned out beautiful! We had 4 fillies and 1 colt total with a range of colors and patterns! It is still undecided, just which foal will be staying here so the sale will be held off until early February 2014. With out further ado, her they are!
