Kahlo has been a wonderful addition to our facilities. She was purchased to be a companion horse for Kiki and her son, William. Since his birth, William has been around Kahlo and they have formed a strong bond. He is now almost 6 years old but has already taken a strong interest in her well being and is eager to go to the barn to feed her and visit with her.
She the sweetest personality and has proven to be the perfect girl for little William. "Kahlo unfortunately suffered an injury early in her training and never made it to the track. She is sound to ride, but flatwork and low jumping only - this mare is not an eventer. She recently had her very first foal for us, a palomino splash filly named Mona Lisa, but three days after foaling Kahlo coliced hard and had to spend several days in ICU at our veterinary clinic - she was a little touch and go for a while there. She is thankfully fine now and her filly has moved onto a nurse mare, so she has dried up. Our vet advises that she should be watched carefully in the future if she is to be bred. She is a very sweet mare, easy to handle and love on. She is very responsive to body language and hand signals, as she is completely deaf. We would prefer she is not bred, but will allow her to go only to the perfect home as a broodmare."
- High Point Stables Despite being categorized as one of our broodmares, she will only be bred on a rare occasion. The real purpose on the ranch will be as Kiki's companion horse for her son, William, and herself.
